Jason Scott Aran

Jason Scott Aran serves as a Teaching Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Mathematics at Drexel University's College of Arts and Sciences. With a teaching career spanning from 2006 to 2022, he has instructed foundational courses including Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and specialized topics such as Probability & Statistics, Complex Variables, and Scientific Data Analysis. His office is located in Korman 257.

His research interests, derived from extensive teaching expertise, focus on mathematics education and applied mathematics:

• Calculus pedagogy and curriculum development
• Probability and Statistics with actuarial science applications (including Exam P preparation)
• Complex Analysis (evidenced by consistent teaching of Math 291/Math 322)
• Scientific Data Analysis (Math 410/411 instruction)
• Algebra and Linear Algebra instruction
• Differential Equations and Actuarial Mathematics

Dr. Aran pioneered Drexel's online mathematics education, teaching Mathematical Analysis I (Math 181) online continuously since 2010 across 16 academic years. He actively contributes to student success through the Dragon Scholars Summer Program bridge courses and actuarial exam advising, while developing hybrid/online course formats to enhance accessibility for diverse student populations.
