Jason Roche

Dr Jason Roche is a Senior Lecturer in Medieval Mediterranean History at Manchester Metropolitan University's Faculty of Arts and Humanities. His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of St Andrews, followed by teaching roles across Scotland, Ireland, Turkey, and Manchester. He specializes in Crusader history, Byzantine-Latin relations, and medieval military conflicts.

Research focuses on the Crusader States, Byzantine Empire interactions, and modern reinterpretations of medieval conflicts. He supervises PhD candidate Luke Quinn on Mongol ideology and offers postgraduate supervision in Frankish Outremer, Latin Christendom expansion, and Byzantine-Latin relations. His teaching emphasizes critical thinking and transferable skills through dynamic engagement with historical narratives.

Roche serves as a reviewer for journals including The Medieval Review, History, and Al-Masāq.
