Jason Roche

Jason Roche is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at University of Detroit Mercy's College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences. He holds an M.A. from Syracuse University, B.A. from Geneseo State University, and A.A. from Cayuga Community College. Roche specializes in media production and ethics, teaching courses in audio/video production, documentary filmmaking, and visual communication.

His research focuses on documentary film production and media content analysis. Roche directed the award-winning documentary Stealing Home about Tiger Stadium's legacy, which received multiple festival awards and a Michigan Emmy nomination. He pioneers cell phone video documentary techniques, creating a feature-length film about family life during the 2020 pandemic. Roche served as Director of The Honors Program from 2012-2015.
