
About
Jason Roberts is an Assistant Professor affiliated with both the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies and the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his PhD in an ad hoc program within UT’s Department of Germanic Studies, complemented by a PhD portfolio in Religious Studies. He also holds an MA in Slavic Languages and Literature from UT Austin and an MM in piano performance from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
Research Interests:
- Intellectual history of confessional theology, focusing on demonology and magic
- Siberian shamanism and ritual theory
- Representations of time and space in divination systems
- Christian exorcism and magic (1st–16th century)
- Russian Orthodoxy and its cultural intersections
- Impact of theology on historical metanarratives and social sciences
