About
Dr. Jason Raine is an Adjunct Professor in Environmental Science and Operations Manager of the Quesnel River Research Centre. His research investigates physiological responses of fish to environmental contamination, with focus on oil sands impacts, PFAS toxicology, and stress biomarkers.
Research utilizes fish models (sturgeon, trout, minnow) to examine contaminant effects across life stages. Key interests include endocrine disruption, transgenerational effects, and developing biomarkers like the kynurenine pathway indicator for organismal health.
Methodological strengths include bioassay development, histopathology, and toxicokinetic studies. Field work assesses impacts of industrial activities like oil sands operations on aquatic ecosystems.
Dr. Raine is not currently accepting graduate students but contributes to environmental monitoring through the Quesnel River Research Centre.
