Jason Peterson is an Associate Professor of Communication and Chair of the Department of Communication at Charleston Southern University. He holds a PhD in Mass Communication and Journalism from The University of Southern Mississippi, an MA in Journalism from The University of Georgia, and a BA in Mass Communication from Georgia College & State University.
His research focuses on the intersection of the Civil Rights Movement and sports journalism, examining historical media coverage of racial equality in collegiate athletics and sports protests. He has published extensively in journals like American Journalism and Southeastern Review of Journalism History, with a book analyzing the integration of college basketball through media narratives.
