Jason Lahr

Jason Lahr is an Associate Professor of Studio Art at the University of Notre Dame, serving as Director of Graduate Studies and Area Head for Painting and Drawing. His work critically examines masculinity through interdisciplinary lenses including feminism, narrative theory, and semiotics.

Research focuses on constructing narratives around working-class male identity using darkly comic texts and appropriated imagery from popular culture. Explores intersections of mass media, gender dynamics, and subcultural ephemera. His paintings feature authoritative female figures and vulnerable male subjects, questioning cultural narratives through fragmented storytelling.
