Jason James is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Mary Washington, located in Fredericksburg, VA. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on nationalism, ethnicity, collective memory, socialism/post-socialism, and Germany, with recent projects examining slavery commemoration in Richmond and immigrant integration in Germany. He teaches courses on European anthropology, urban anthropology, and tourism studies.
