Jason Hicks serves as Dean and Professor of the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, overseeing one of the university's largest colleges since July 1, 2022. He previously held leadership roles at Louisiana State University including Provost's Fellow, Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Chair of the Psychology Department.
Dr. Hicks' research expertise focuses on human cognition with specialization in:
- Memory distortion phenomena
- Prospective memory (memory for future intentions)
- Source memory identification
- Strategic control of memory retrieval
His scholarly work has appeared in leading journals including Memory & Cognition, Journal of Experimental Psychology, and Journal of Memory and Language.
Dr. Hicks has established four strategic priorities for the College of Liberal Arts:

- Supporting professional development for faculty, staff and students
- Ensuring comprehensive student success from recruitment through graduation
As a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and Psychonomic Society, he brings significant scholarly recognition to his leadership role while maintaining active research interests in cognitive psychology.
His educational background includes a BS in psychology from Truman State University (1993), and both MA (1995) and PhD (1998) in experimental/cognitive psychology from the University of Georgia.
