Jason Helms is an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Center for Digital Expression at Texas Christian University (TCU). He holds a Ph.D. in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design from Clemson University (2010), with additional coursework at the European Graduate School. His research focuses on the interplay of rhetoric and technology, particularly in digital humanities, multimodal composition, and critical theory. Helms is the author of the digital monograph *Rhizcomics: Rhetoric, Technology, and New Media Composition* (2017), which redefines scholarly communication through comics and digital media.
His teaching spans rhetoric, multimedia authoring, visual rhetoric, and digital humanities, with courses like *Writing Games* and *Digital Rhetorics*. Notable awards include the 2018 Kairos Best Webtext Award and TCU’s Faculty Research Award. Helms leads interdisciplinary projects, including a regional video games symposium and grants focused on diversity in digital media. He actively serves on committees for digital expression, critical race studies, and graduate education at TCU.
