Jason Hanna is Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Northern Illinois University. His research specializes in normative ethics, applied ethics, and political philosophy, with particular focus on paternalism, procreation ethics, and deontological constraints.
He co-edited The Routledge Handbook of the Philosophy of Paternalism (2018), examining ethical dimensions of benevolence across medical, legal, and policy contexts. Hanna's work addresses ethical frameworks for decision-making in contexts ranging from intimate relationships to public policy.
Teaching includes courses in environmental ethics, political philosophy, and ethical theory at graduate and undergraduate levels.
