Jason Corwin is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Indigenous Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University at Buffalo’s Department of Indigenous Studies, within the College of Arts and Sciences. A citizen of the Seneca Nation (Deer Clan), he is a lifelong media maker and community-based educator. His work focuses on Indigenous ways of knowing, environmental justice, and digital media’s role in achieving narrative sovereignty and sustainability.

Research Interests: Jason’s research explores the intersection of Indigenous knowledge systems, environmental education, and digital media. He emphasizes Indigenous communities’ efforts to assert narrative sovereignty, advance sustainability, and combat environmental injustice. His work often incorporates multimedia storytelling to highlight marginalized voices and foster dialogue around social and ecological equity.
Recent Work: His publication in the Journal of Sustainability Education (Vol. 23, Ecomedia Literacy Special Issue) examines the Green Guerrillas Youth Media Tech Collective, showcasing how youth-driven media projects challenge systemic inequities through sustainable storytelling.
Labs/Teams: Founder of the Seneca Media & Communications Center and collaborator with the Green Guerrillas Youth Media Tech Collective, he leverages digital platforms to empower Indigenous communities and amplify their narratives.
