Jason Allen-Paisant is Professor of Critical Theory and Creative Writing at the University of Manchester. A scholar and poet, he explores embodied experience in Afro-diasporic contexts through works like the poetry collections Thinking with Trees (Bocas Prize winner) and Self-Portrait as Othello (Forward/Eliot Prize winner). His research examines Black diasporic worldbuilding and representations of nature.
Academic publications include Théâtre dialectique postcolonial and Engagements with Aimé Césaire, analyzing African metaphysics in poetry. He guest-edited journal issues on colonial historiography and Black futurity.
