Jasmijn Rana is an Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University, affiliated with the Social and Behavioural Sciences faculty. Her research focuses on embodied identities, ethnoracial inequalities, and the intersection of religion, gender, and sport. She leads the ERC-funded project 'Diversity Outdoors' examining ethnoracial disparities in outdoor recreation across Europe. Previously, she held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship at UC Berkeley (2022–2024). Rana’s work bridges decolonial theory and ethnographic practice, with notable publications on Muslim women’s participation in sports like kickboxing and running. She co-coordinates the 'At Home Otherwise' project rethinking heritage through diversity and chairs the LOVA Network for Feminist Anthropology. Her teaching spans cultural anthropology, citizenship, and gender studies courses.
