Jared Powell

Lieutenant Colonel Jared Powell serves as the Professor of Military Science for the Army ROTC program at East Tennessee State University, administered under the College of Business and Technology. He oversees the ROTC program at ETSU and four extension units across Tennessee and Virginia.

Education:

• Bachelor of Business Administration (earned through Army ROTC)
• Master of Military Studies (Marine Corps Command and General Staff College)

Colonel Powell's professional expertise centers on Military Science, with emphasis on Field Artillery operations, Leadership development, National Security strategy, and Military tactics. His research and teaching are grounded in extensive combat experience from deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, along with leadership roles in artillery units and joint operations.

As Professor of Military Science, he mentors ROTC cadets in military training and academic coursework across multiple campuses. Previously, he held the same position at Florida State University and served in key military assignments including Platoon Leader in Iraq, Targeting Officer in Afghanistan, Brigade Fire Support Officer in Korea, and Field Artillery Branch Chief at Army Futures Command.
