About
Jansen Eystein is a Full Professor of Palaeoclimatology and Marine Geology at the University of Bergen, Norway. He has held leadership roles including Academic Director of the Bergen Knowledge Hub (since 2018), Vice-Director of the SapienCE Centre for Early Human Behaviour (since 2017), and Director of the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research (2002–2013). His research focuses on paleoclimatology, marine geology, geochemistry, and polar science, with contributions to understanding climate change mechanisms and oceanographic processes.
He has been honored with membership in prestigious Norwegian academies, including the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research. His work at the Bjerknes Centre has been recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Norwegian Research Council.
Key research interests include reconstructing past climate systems, analyzing marine sediment cores, and studying polar environmental dynamics. His interdisciplinary approach bridges geochemical analyses and geological data to model long-term climate trends.
