Jann Hau

Jann Hau serves as Professor in both the Department of Experimental Medicine (Section of Research and Education) and the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (Preclinical Disease Biology) at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. With a distinguished career spanning multiple decades, Professor Hau maintains dual institutional appointments reflecting expertise bridging human and veterinary medicine.

Professor Hau's research focuses on critical issues in laboratory animal science, including reproducibility in preclinical studies, animal welfare standards, and the development of improved animal models for human diseases. Their work spans neurodegenerative disorders, arthritis research, stress models, and translational neuroscience, with particular emphasis on methodological rigor and cross-institutional standardization. Recent publications demonstrate ongoing leadership in addressing challenges related to animal housing, telemetry applications, and multi-center study design.
