Janine DeBaise

Janine DeBaise is an Instructor in the Writing Program at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, teaching since 1992. Her work explores ecofeminism, body politics, and environmental stewardship through poetry collections like Body Language and Of a Feather, and essays in Orion Magazine and Prairie Schooner.

Her research examines connections between environmental degradation and misogyny, digital pedagogy integration, and place-based writing. Awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2024), she serves as Education Editor for Terrain.org.

Awards include the Vinnie Ream Medal (2019), Norman Roller Award (2020, 2022), and multiple Pen Women honors. Her publications span ecofeminist theory, creative pedagogy, and environmental literature.
