Janine Absalom

Janine Absalom is a Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Greenwich's School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences. She holds a master's in healthcare leadership from the NHS Leadership Academy and is a Professional Midwifery Advocate. Her clinical expertise spans low-risk midwifery care, home births, complex personalized care plans, and physiological breech birth, complemented by training in acupuncture and aromatherapy.

Professionally, Janine progressed from a rotational midwife (2002–2008) to Matron for Community Midwives and Birth Centres (2022–2025) at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. She balances academic teaching on physiological birth and breech presentation with active clinical roles as a midwifery vaccinator and PROMPT trainer. She is set to pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education in 2025.
