Janice R. Levi is a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Bates College. Her research focuses on migration histories, historical methodologies, and intercultural encounters in Africa, with a current project examining oral and ritual histories of a Jewish community in western Ghana. Her work explores historical silences, cultural preservation, and migration under duress. She has been funded by prestigious institutions including the Mellon Foundation and FLAS Fellowship.
