Janice Feng is an Assistant Professor in Political Studies and Philosophy at Trent University, Canada. She holds a PhD in Political Science (Political Theory) from the University of Michigan (2023), an MA in Political Science and Cultural, Social, and Political Thought from the University of Victoria, and a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Alberta (double major with distinction).
Research interests:
- History of political thought and settler colonial studies
- Indigenous and decolonial thought in Turtle Island and Asia-Pacific
- Feminist/queer theory, critical theory, and continental philosophy
- Embodiment, desire, and affect in anti-colonial resistance
Current projects:
- The Cultivation of Desire book (under contract) analyzing Indigenous women's embodied practices in early modern French North America
- Second book exploring 19th-century Indigenous mass media interventions and visions of futurity
- Research on Japanese imperial political thought and Taiwanese anti-colonial resistance
