Janet Thomas

Janet Thomas is a part-time Lecturer at Queen Margaret University (QMU) in the Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry & Radiography Division. She also serves as a Team Lead Physiotherapist for NHS Fife (0.5 WTE) and is the UK representative to the International Association for Physical Therapists working with Older People (IPTOP). Her academic career spans over three decades, beginning with clinical practice in England and Scotland before returning to academia after a career break.

Her research focuses on falls risk assessment in older adults and practice-based education for healthcare professionals. She pioneered studies on rehabilitation suitability post-fall and currently investigates social media's impact on continuing professional development, co-founding the @physiotalk tweetchat initiative.

Janet's teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses like Introduction to Professional Studies and postgraduate modules such as Preparing for Practice as an Allied Health Professional. She specializes in practice-based learning frameworks and educator support systems.
