Janet Sturman

Janet Sturman serves as Associate Professor in the School of Music and Dance at the University of Arizona, where she teaches ethnomusicology and general music courses while coordinating the School of Music's honors options.

Her professional activities include service on the Board of Directors for both the Society for Ethnomusicology and the College Music Society.

Research interests include:

• Latin American and Southwest U.S. musical traditions
• Relationships between musical performance and ethnic identity
• Impact of technology on musical practice
• Effects of transnational economic policies on music
