Janet Brooks

Janet Brooks serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Art Department at Austin Community College, teaching Watercolor Painting (ARTS 2366). With extensive experience across central Texas, California's Bay Area, and Nashville TN, she maintains an active career as both educator and exhibiting artist with regional and national show participation.

Her academic credentials include a BFA in Studio Art and MFA in Painting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Brooks' multidisciplinary practice spans acrylic/oil/watercolor painting, sculpture, serigraphy, and collage, currently emphasizing nature through dual objective-symbolic lenses. She states: "The close study of the natural world reveals a realm both delicate and dramatic, intricate and intense," drawing inspiration from E.O. Wilson's perspectives on biodiversity's aesthetic value.

She juried multiple regional art exhibitions and mentored students in exhibition curation. Her teaching philosophy prioritizes personal expression discovery through technique exploration, fostering classroom community alongside artistic growth.
