Janet Becker

Janet Becker is a Senior Lecturer at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, part of the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She holds an academic affiliation within the VC-Marine Sciences school. Her research focuses on geophysical and geological fluid dynamics, elasticity, nonlinear waves, coastal processes, and general ocean circulation. Becker has contributed to studies such as the 2024 publication on rising sea levels and shoreline wave energy in American Samoa. She earned her PhD in Oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD (1989) and a BS in Physics from UCSD (1983).
