Janet Bauer

Janet Bauer serves as Professor of International Studies at Trinity College, Hartford, with prior leadership as Coordinator of Global Studies and Director of the Women, Gender and Sexuality Program. She contributes externally as a member of Hartford's Commission on Refugee and Immigrant Affairs and completed a Visiting Fulbright Global Scholar residency (2017-2018) at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity.

Educational foundation:

• Ph.D. in Anthropology, Stanford University

Her research integrates anthropological methods to examine critical global issues:

• Gender and mobility patterns across Muslim societies in Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Americas
• 40-year intergenerational study (since 1989) of Iranian refugee resettlement and community integration in Germany
• Current development of a comparative migration/refugee monograph
