Janene Sproul

Janene Sproul is a Lecturer in Science Education at Murdoch University's School of Education. With over 20 years of secondary science teaching experience in diverse settings (rural, remote, metropolitan), she focuses on inclusive environmental education and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Her research examines digital accessibility challenges, particularly visual light sensitivity in classrooms. Current projects investigate 'biophilia' through community collaborations with Perth Children's Hospital and Aboriginal Elders, developing nature-based educational frameworks that integrate Indigenous knowledge.

Honors include the Murdoch Teacher Education Prize (2021) and Excellence in Student Learning commendation (2022). She serves on the board of the Science Teachers Association of Western Australia and coordinates Murdoch Community Garden initiatives.
