Janelle October

Janelle October serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Marriage & Family Therapy at Pacific Oaks College's Pasadena campus. With extensive experience in family therapy and child development, she contributes to the academic community while maintaining active professional practice.

Her educational background includes:

• BA in Psychology with emphasis in early childhood from Cal Poly Pomona University (1994)
• MAMFT from Pacific Oaks College (2002)

Dr. October specializes in connecting psychological understanding with holistic health approaches. Her research and practice focus on child and adolescent development, resilience skills, early childhood education methodologies, and marriage & family systems. She integrates traditional therapy with nutritional and herbal approaches to create comprehensive wellness strategies.

As a Certified Nutrition Consultant and Certified Master Clinical Herbalist, she bridges conventional therapy with holistic wellness practices. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creating 'an environment of community learners where we all benefit from the insight and wisdom of the group' with 'safety and open communication [being] vital for learning to occur.' Her current professional work focuses on helping parents create healthy attachments with their children, combining her expertise in psychology, family therapy, nutrition, and herbalism to address the health of 'mind, body, spirit, and humanity.'
