Dr. Jane Peirson is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at York St John University, part of the School of Science, Technology and Health. She qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 2003 (University of Sheffield) and later obtained dual registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) from the University of Hull in 2016. In 2022, she completed an MSc in Community Nursing (Specialist Community Public Health Nursing) at the University of Hull.
With 20 years of clinical experience across diverse health settings before transitioning to academia in 2020, Dr. Peirson taught undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs at the University of Hull, including perinatal mental health and advanced practice. She joined York St John University in 2023, contributing to the undergraduate nursing curriculum.
Her research focuses on two key areas:
