Jane McManus

Jane McManus is a Professional Lecturer in Communication and Director of the Center for Sports Communication at Marist College since 2018. She holds an MS in Journalism from Columbia University and a BA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College. Her work focuses on sports journalism, ethics in reporting, and sports' intersection with social issues.

Her research emphasizes social media's role in sports communication, ethical reporting standards, and historical contexts of American sports. Notable works include investigative pieces on the NFL's racial dynamics and athlete accountability. McManus has received the 2018 NABJ Digital Sports Media Award and the 2001 APSE enterprise award.

Her career spans diverse roles including radio hosting, print journalism, and academia. McManus also played roller derby under the name Lesley E. Visserate while covering the New York Jets.
