Jane Kirtley is the Silha Professor of Media Ethics and Law and Director of the Silha Center at the University of Minnesota's Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication. She holds a JD from Vanderbilt University and MSJ/BSJ from Northwestern University. With a background as Executive Director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press (1984-1999), her work focuses on First Amendment and media law issues.
Research encompasses media ethics, freedom of information, and legal standards in journalism.
