Jane Juffer is a Professor at Cornell University with a joint appointment in the Department of Literatures in English and the Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, where she also serves as director. She holds the Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellowship (2021) and focuses on cultural studies, feminist theory, and Latinx studies. Her research spans migration, gender, and media, with notable works including Letters from Inside a U.S. Detention Center (2023) and Millennial Feminism at Work (2021).
Her academic contributions include six books analyzing topics like immigration detention, children’s emotions in digital culture, and single motherhood. She advises students rigorously, earning the Robert A. and Donna B. Paul Award (2015).
Her current project explores memoir and memory. She previously co-directed Latino Studies at Penn State University before joining Cornell in 2008.
