Jane J. Mansbridge holds the Charles F. Adams Professor of Political Leadership and Democratic Values at Harvard Kennedy School. She is a Faculty Associate of the Ethics Center since 1998.
Research interests include democratic deliberation, representation, everyday activism, legitimate coercion, and public understanding of free-rider problems. Her notable works are Beyond Adversary Democracy and Why We Lost the ERA, the latter being an award-winning study of anti-deliberative dynamics in social movements.
