Jane Graves

Jane Graves is an Associate Lecturer in Medical Education at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University. She serves as the Personal and Professional Development (PPD) Convener for first and second year medical students, providing academic support, maintaining curriculum, and leading teaching teams.

Her research focuses on Medical Education PPD curriculum, particularly examining compassion fatigue in medical students. She also supports Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), academic writing and referencing skills, and interprofessionalism. Jane is an LGBTQIA+ advocate at the school level.

Jane holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in anatomy from the University of New South Wales (1990) and a Master of Chiropractic from Macquarie University (1993). She has maintained AHPRA registration and has practiced as a Chiropractor continuously since 1994, founding one allied health clinic and one chiropractic practice in NSW. Currently, she maintains a weekly chiropractic shift in a multidisciplinary physiotherapy practice.

Her academic career began in 2003 at the School of Science and Health at the University of Western Sydney (UWS), where she worked as the Remedial Massage Uniclinic Manager, Lecturer and Unit Coordinator until 2009. From 2010-2011, she was Head of the Naturopathy Program at UWS. She continued as a casual academic in the School of Science and Health from 2010-2014, teaching in areas including Professional Competencies in Health, Culture, Health and Diversity and Communication in Health. In 2013-2014, she commenced her current position in the School of Medicine.

Jane's additional qualifications include a Cert IV TAE Training and Assessment from MRWED, an AMEE-ESME Certificate in Medical Education, and a DRM from Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE.
