Dr. Jane Ford is a Senior Lecturer in English Studies at Teesside University’s School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law. She joined the institution in 2018 after teaching at Edge Hill University, the University of Chester, Keele University, and the University of Portsmouth. With a BA in English Language & Literature, an MA in Victorian Literature (University of Liverpool), and a Ph.D. in English (University of Portsmouth), her research focuses on fin-de-siècle literature, particularly economic metaphors and Victorian women’s writing. She co-edited Economies of Desire at the Victorian Fin-de-Siècle: Libidinal Lives (2016) and Lucas Malet, Dissident Pilgrim: Critical Essays (2019), and authored Metaphors of Economic Exploitation in Literature, 1885-1914 (2024). Her work explores intersections between economics, desire, and literary form, with a focus on marginalized voices like Lucas Malet. She leads the Deliberate Ink project (2025), linking writing/print-making to women’s political engagement. Jane supervises PhD students in Victorian Gothic, finance/economics in literature, and women’s writing.
