Dr. Jane Fall-Dickson is the Associate Dean of Research at the Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD. She leads strategic research initiatives and provides academic leadership in nursing education and oncology. Previously, she held roles as an Associate Professor and Assistant Chair of Research at Georgetown University School of Nursing, alongside affiliations with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research focuses on cancer survivorship, symptom science, and oral complications of cancer treatments such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Dr. Fall-Dickson holds a BA in English and French from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, a BSN from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, an MSN from Yale School of Nursing, and a PhD from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Her clinical background includes oncology nursing, chemotherapy administration, and clinical leadership roles at institutions like the NIH Clinical Center and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Her research emphasizes improving health-related quality of life for oncology patients, particularly through symptom management and novel treatments for oral mucositis. She contributed to clinical practice guidelines for mucositis and served on review committees for the National Cancer Institute and Georgetown-Howard University Clinical Translational Science Award. Her mentorship was recognized with the 2023 Allan Angerio Award for Excellence in Mentorship.
Dr. Fall-Dickson collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and holds roles on advisory boards, including the USUHS Vice President for Research’s Research Advisory Committee and the Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and policy to advance healthcare outcomes for vulnerable populations.
