Jane Errington is a Professor of History at Queen’s University and Professor Emerita at the Royal Military College of Canada. She holds a Ph.D. from Queen’s University and specializes in colonial North American history, with a focus on gender, migration, and social structures in Upper Canada.
Her research explores the roles of women, indentured servants, and apprentices in colonial societies, as well as the intersection of church, charity, and imperial masculinity. She has authored award-winning books including The Lion, the Eagle and Upper Canada, Wives and Mothers, School Mistresses and Scullery Maids, and Emigrant Worlds and Transatlantic Communities.
Dr. Errington has received prestigious awards for her research and teaching, including the Cowan Prize and the Joseph Brant Award. Her current projects include studies on 19th-century church/charity networks and the historical development of the Royal Military College.
