Jane Dawson

Jane Dawson is an AHRC-funded PhD Researcher and Associate Lecturer at the College of Arts, Technology and Environment, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She collaborates with the University of Bristol and ForFuture Wildlife filmmakers. Her academic qualifications include an MA in Film and Television from the University of Bristol and a BA (Hons) in Journalism from Falmouth University.

Her research critically examines inclusion, extraction, and Indigenous representation in natural history filmmaking. Key interests encompass:

• Ethical dimensions of media production (Green Filmmaking, Decolonisation)
• Practical and theoretical aspects of Documentary Filmmaking
• Spatial and perceptual studies (Place and Space, Colour and Image Perception)
• Indigenous methodologies and Creative Arts praxis
