Jane Calcutt is a Senior Lecturer in Primary & Childhood Education at Edge Hill University, with over 25 years of experience in primary education and practitioner research. She holds a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from The Open University and has taught at various academic levels, including BA(Hons) Primary Education, Primary PGCE, and MA in Education. Her research focuses on mindfulness-based interventions for social justice, mental health, and behavior management in educational settings.

Research interests include children’s social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and democratic evaluation methods. She leads modules on childhood perceptions, cultural perspectives in education, and student resilience development.
Her recent projects include exploring teacher educator identities and student personal development through pedagogical activities. Jane also develops initiatives to support student wellbeing during professional practice.
- Awards: Vic Finkelstein Award (2020) for doctoral research on mindfulness in primary schools.
She collaborates with schools on mindfulness training, conflict resolution, and behavior management. Current projects include a university-based initiative to enhance student resilience and a study on ITE lecturers’ transition to higher education roles.
