Jane Behre

Jane Behre is a PhD candidate in the College of Information at the University of Maryland, College Park, and holds the position of Research & Teaching Fellow at McKeldin Library. Her academic journey includes an MLIS from the University of Maryland and a BA from Barnard College.

Research Interests: Her work centers on LGBTQ+ youth’s secret information needs, everyday life information practices, and health information behavior. She examines digital literacy education, particularly for English language learners, and explores how public libraries advance health justice during crises.

Research Trends: Jane’s recent work highlights marginalized groups’ information struggles, such as LGBTQ+ youth and COVID long-haulers, while advocating for inclusive digital literacy programs. Her studies underscore the role of libraries in bridging health information gaps.

Teaching & Advising: Jane taught information literacy to first-year English 101 students from 2019-2021. No formal advisees are listed.
