Jana Altmanova is a Full Professor of French Language and Translation (SSD L-LIN/04) at the Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies, University of Naples 'L'Orientale' since 2021. Previously, she held roles as Associate Professor (2019–2021) and researcher (RtdB/RtdA). She is President of the Francophone scientific network LTT (Lexicologie, Terminologie, Traduction) since 2023 and Secretary since 2020. In 2022, she was awarded the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République française.
Her research focuses on specialized discourse analysis, neology in French, semantics of proper names, and enunciative linguistics. Notable projects include coordinating the PRIN 2022 PNRR project (GALIC) on cultural heritage and a Galileo project on lexical variations related to climate and biodiversity. She has contributed over 80 publications, emphasizing sociolinguistics, terminology, and pragmatics.
Altmanova teaches courses on French language and specialized translation (e.g., 'Linguistic and Cultural Mediation'). She coordinates PhD programs in Literary, Linguistic, and Comparative Studies and has collaborated internationally, particularly in Italo-French research initiatives. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with applied domains like environmental discourse and cultural translation.
