Jan Pieter Beetz is an Assistant Professor in Political Theory and European Integration at Utrecht University School of Governance (USG), specializing in the political authority of liberal democracies, EU integration, and the administrative state. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Exeter and has held academic positions at Leiden University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Radboud University Nijmegen, and others. His research focuses on realist philosophies of political authority, EU democratic deficits, and administrative ethics. He teaches in the BA Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) program and supervises master's theses in European governance.
