Jan Oechler is a Lecturer for Dance at the Thomas Bernhard Institute of Mozarteum University, where he has taught since 2008. His expertise spans multiple dance disciplines including ballet, modern dance, Latin jazz, and authentic Latin American movement forms.
With a background as a competitive dancer, Oechler has achieved significant recognition including titles as German show dance champion and international German professional Latin champion. He has been a dance sport coach with an A license from the German Sports Federation since 1985, training multiple world and European champions in both professional and amateur sectors.
Oechler founded the Dance Company Salzburg in 2005, which has become one of the most successful Latino show formations worldwide, winning numerous awards. He has worked extensively with musicians from the legendary Buena Vista Social Club in Havana and has created choreographies for television, film, and theater productions.
