Jan Lermitte is a Lecturer in the English & Creative Writing department at Trinity Western University (TWU), Langley, BC, and teaches in TWU GLOBAL's BA Leadership program. Her research focuses on contemporary Canadian literature, particularly WWI depictions by women and Indigenous peoples, and the works of Dorothy L. Sayers. She holds an MA from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a BA from Trinity Western University. Her expertise includes 20th-century Canadian literature, Indigenous literatures, and cognitive poetics.
Education highlights include a UBC thesis on Canada's WWI narrative at Vimy Ridge, and continuing education in leadership theory and Indigenous rights at SFU. She has been an invited reviewer and lecturer on Canadian war plays and WWI literature. Awards include the Royal Canadian Society Scholarship (2008).
Research interests span gender, war, theology of work, and interdisciplinary approaches to literature. She has published in Canadian Literature, Transcanadiana, and Caliban, with a forthcoming book chapter on Dorothy L. Sayers. Recent work explores intersections between literature, art, and memory. Her teaching emphasizes lifelong learning through interdisciplinary methods.
Lermitte has presented at international conferences, including the Polish Association of Canadian Studies and the Canadian Association of Theatre Research. She is affiliated with the Inklings Institute of Canada and the Modern Language Association.
