Dr. Jan Langbein is a Research Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) where he leads the Animal Behaviour & Welfare working group. With a PhD from Humboldt University of Berlin, his research focuses on cognitive ethology and welfare assessment in farm animals.
Research Focus:
- Animal learning mechanisms under automated husbandry systems
- Visual discrimination and concept learning in dwarf goats
- Heart rate variability as stress indicator
- Cognitive enrichment strategies
