Dr. Jamie Winternitz serves as a Senior Researcher at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences within the Department of Biology. Based at the Institute of Animal Cell and Systems Biology (IZS), their research group focuses on evolutionary immunogenomics at Martin-Luther-King-Platz 3 in Hamburg.
Research interests center on evolutionary mechanisms driving immune system variation in wild vertebrates, with three primary pillars:
