Jamie Draper

Dr. Jamie Draper is an Assistant Professor in the Ethics Institute at Utrecht University's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. His research focuses on political philosophy, addressing issues of environmental, social, and global justice, particularly climate displacement, migration, and urban politics. He holds a PhD from the University of Reading (2020) and previously served as a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford, and a Teaching Fellow at the University of Warwick. Dr. Draper is an Associate Editor at Res Publica and a 2025 member of the Utrecht Young Academy.

His book Climate Displacement (Oxford UP, 2023) examines ethical dimensions of climate-induced migration. Recent publications include analyses of displacement frameworks, gentrification's democratic impacts, and climate adaptation policies. His work bridges theoretical philosophy with applied ethics, emphasizing institutional responsibility and pluralist approaches.
