Jamie Baxter

Professor Jamie Baxter is a Full-Time Faculty member and Associate Dean Graduate Affairs in the Faculty of Social Science at Western University. He holds a position in the Department of Geography and Environment, specializing in environmental risk management, community responses to technological hazards, and renewable energy policy. His research focuses on the social dimensions of environmental issues, including energy justice, noxious facility siting, and methodological innovations in qualitative research.

Baxter has supervised numerous graduate students across PhD and Master’s programs, investigating topics such as wind energy policy in Canada, Indigenous community energy projects, and municipal waste management. His teaching includes courses on environmental hazards, qualitative methods, and health geography.

His work bridges academic research with policy implications, addressing real-world challenges like energy transitions, environmental equity, and community engagement.
