James Walsh

Professor James L. Walsh holds the Chair in Low Temperature Plasma Science at the York Plasma Institute, University of York. His research focuses on plasma applications in healthcare and environmental technologies.

Research Expertise: Plasma source development (RF/nanosecond-pulsed systems), optical diagnostics (laser spectroscopy), and applications in microbial disinfection, food safety, and pollution remediation.

Leadership: Founded the EPSRC-funded Centre for Plasma Microbiology; secured over £4 million in research funding. Published 100+ papers in plasma science and applied microbiology.

Key Projects: Developing plasma technologies for medical equipment sterilization, water purification, and cancer treatment enhancement.
