James Shearer is a Senior Lecturer in Health Economics at King's College London, affiliated with the Health Service & Population Research department. His research focuses on cost-effectiveness analysis, healthcare cost evaluation, and economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, particularly in mental health and public health domains.
Key projects include the DAISIES RCT comparing treatments for anorexia nervosa, the BOPPP trial on esophageal varices prophylaxis, and the BESST trial evaluating school-based mental health workshops for adolescents. He collaborates on multi-institutional studies funded by the NIHR, including the DISCOVER-UK implementation program and the COMPEERS feasibility study on dual diagnosis treatments.
